Students in South Korea
Being an ESL teacher in South Korea you are expected to teach three kinds of students, kindergarten, elementary, middle school and high school students. The South Korean children are basically enthusiastic and take initiatives in learning activities. They love to play games. Most of them are pretty obedient but being young they will surely let you feel their strong classroom presence.
Plan your classes well to have a control over your students and try to motivate them as much as you can. They will love to take up learning challenges.
Korean public schools start their English classes in grade four and so, you can expect your upper elementary students of age 8- 12 years to have some English vocabulary. The students can also read in English by the time they are at the end of grade four.
If you are teaching in some
language institutes in South Korea, you will get adult students who are
either planning to study or work in countries like US, UK or Canada or they
nurture an interest for the subject. Some adult students are just fond of
learning new languages while others will apply the knowledge in their career
moves. So, the interest of the adult students varies from one to the other.
Your objective is to render a well planned knowledge of the subject. You
will surely have fun with the adult students as they love interactive
classes. Moreover, you can even learn from them a lot.
